Runners Feedback.
Subject: Weskus Marathon - 2010
My husband sent me an article in which the club is questioning whether they should be hosting the marathon.
YES! I can't believe that people are complaining and it has prompted me to send this (belated) THANK YOU.
I have run lots of marathons and 13 Two Oceans and thus have a vast experience in this regard.
The marathon was fantastically well organised, not least after the debacle of the marathon 2 weeks earlier,
hosted by a much bigger club and embarrassingly badly done!!
It is the first time that I have run your marathon, and I found it tough but I certainly did think at the time,
and do still, that it was a brilliant effort from a very small club, and that you should be applauded.
From entry (ours was complicated and your 'people' were so friendly and helpful), to the registration,
start (wow, now that's organised), the actual race and tables to the finish - AWESOME.
I highly recommend this marathon to anyone looking to add a pearler of a race to their calendar.
Please don't listen to the peanut gallery. I'm sure that even the smallest hiccough can make people complain,
but they probably take the race for granted and have not helped at an event recently!!

Baie dankie vir 'n baie lekker wedloop Saterdag. Ek het die halfmarathon gehardloop (en 'n PB opgestel),
maar ongelukkig my medalje iewers tussen Langebaan en Kaapstad verloor (geweet ek moes dit nie van my
nek afgehaal het nie :-)).
Is daar dalk 'n spaar medalje wat ek kan koop by julle? Het nou al orals gesoek vir myne.

Unfortunately we didn’t pre-order any t-shirts and on Saturday (when we saw how beautiful they are)
the lady said they will order some more t-shirts. Am I too late to order, or can I still order t-shirts?

Hi,
I just want to congratulate you on a great race. There a few key ingredients in a good race,
and this race has it all. Brilliant route, superb water tables (ice cold water was really appreciated)
and a general great atmosphere.

Good morning,
I ran the half marathon on Saturday and would just like to tell you that it was the nicest and best
organized race I've done so far! (After a year of running a race per week). I really enjoyed it and
would def be back next year, hopefully to do the marathon!

Congratulation on a excellently organised marathon, I will definitely give it a good rating on the
Runner’s World site.
We have done the last three and it honestly gets better every year, (except for Black Mamba)
One error in the results, my wife and I must have inadvertently switched our numbers, as the results have
Trudy 778 - 3:51 and myself Graham 777 as 4;52
Trudy ran with number 777 and I (Graham) ran with 778. Just for your records.
We both enjoyed and will be back next year.

Thank you for an awesome and well organized race!! This was my first Weskus marathon and the people,
water tables and general enthusiasm and camaraderie was something that I have never encountered.
The people near the end especially, the encouragement to make you push just a little bit harder – in
my case to want to make it under 5 hours, truly inspired me to do it.
The Seeff signage – that helped to make the race moments very memorable and were talked about long after the race.
Next year I will most definitely be back!!

Just want to say thanks for a great race on Saturday. The provision of water/food tables was excellent,

Thanks for a great marathon, the waterpoints were all stunning, my only concern was that there was no
Coke left when I finished the marathon and there were still quite a few people after me... I did 4h46.
I really think this needs looking into, apparently I was told by fellow runners that people were just taking
more than 1 cup of coke for themselves, even people who did not run took coke at the finish stand.
After all that heat, I was looking forward to a cold drink.

Both hubby and myself completed the half marathon on Saturday and I would like to comment as follows:
This was our first West Coast race
The organizing of event was fantastic !
The route was spectacular !
There were ample water stations and support en-route, just pity the coke ran out at the finish !
Thanks to the sponsors, organizers, the people manning the water stations and the supporters !
What an amazing race altogether !
We will definitely be back next year.

Well done, Langebaan Strandlopers on yet another very well organized race. After last year's hiccup with the
water tables (quickly rectified once discovered) we were well look after yesterday. I was even given an ice
cold Lucozade just when I needed it, and the Black Label just before the Black Mamba was great!!!
This is (still) my favourite standard marathon.

Only my second visit up the West Coast but on days like Saturday where evreything pieces together, organization,
weather etc etc you'd have to go a long way to find a better run

Agreed - this was an absolutely awesome first marathon for me and my husband - weather conditions ideal,
course stunning, and water tables well-stocked. I would do it again this Saturday if I could.
